On Nobody wants this

This is great. This was so good. I watched all the episodes in 1 sitting. It's that good. It's this level of romcom Hollywood was doing before and then they fell off. This was what was absent that pushed us to kdramaland exclusively.

I went in expecting nothing. I mean I'd seen my friends post it on their status but I didn't even Google the plot or spoilers. I just went in expecting the bare minimum from Hollywood. But colour me surprised

The dialogue is brilliantly done, there are awkward bits but it fits with the characters. It just flows naturally. The chemistry was chemistry-ing. The actors were deep into the role. Like they actually acted as though they wanted to be in the series - not a cash grab venture. This was phenomenal. Amazing. I'm not even hyping it, this is perfecto.

It has all the recipes for a real funny movie. Quirky friend. Sister that gives bad advice. Overbearing ex. Unserious brother-in-law. Parents with marital issues. Mother that's not onboard with the girl.

I mean, look at the material we're working with.

As an avid romcom girlie, I feel it's really important to explain the key distinctions in a scene being fluttering, corny or cheesy. So you understand how much Hollywood has robbed us for years.

Corny is that you roll your eyes, and can't believe these lines and that this is happening. You really can't help but cringe. It feels unnatural, even forced, like the characters are trying too hard to make a grand romantic gesture, but it just falls flat.

Cheesy is too cute, you are shy watching it as if you're a voyeur. It's an intimate private scene and you're not supposed to be there. It can be over-the-top sweet or romantic that it's almost uncomfortable to watch, but not in a bad way—more like you're embarrassed for the characters, or maybe even for yourself because it's a level of romance that you know you'd feel shy experiencing in real life.

Fluttering is you get butterflies because it feels real and relatable. It’s subtle yet electrifying. You watch with wide eyes because you're drawn in, probably imagining yourself in that moment. You can’t look away because you’re right there, drawn in by every lingering glance, every unspoken word, the slight brush of fingers, the silent tension in the air, the steady eye contact... Basically, it's really the chemistry between the leads that ensures a scene is fluttering.

And I'm telling you right now that there is no single corny scene between the main couple in this Nobody wants this. Cheesy is probably one or two scenes (to be expected of a romcom). But you see that fluttering - just episode 1 will convince you.

We've been getting corny from Hollywood for years. So you should understand how we've been robbed.

If you're into romcom movies, you need to drop anything you're watching and start this series right now. I mean, literally right now, I promise you won't be disappointed. Okay, bye
