When I traveled back in April to the east, the seat I got on the airplane was an emergency exit seat. I did not know because I was not the person who booked the flight. On seeing that seat, an inexplicable fear gripped me. In my subconscious, I said that I could not sit there . I was not thinking about what would happen if we crashed and I needed to assist in opening the door. It was much more than that. In hindsight, it was much more than that. I remember I messaged my friend and asked her about this emergency door seat that I got. She said it was fine and that nothing was wrong. So I just finished this documentary by Untold.   I had written about Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey documentary about 3 years ago but somewhere in the back of my mind, I always wondered what happened to the community when their head honcho (Warren Jeffs) was still manipulating from jail by sending these edicts.  Well, Netflix heard my inner thoughts because this new documentary, (Trust me: The False Prophet) is kind of a follow up. So because Warren Jeffs wasn't getting any action in prison, dude legit banned his followers from procreating. Yes, even married folks. This was someone who had earlier dictated that every year, there should be a new child in each family.  And no surprises, another man who thinks himself God assistant took on the community to continue the nuisance. Why? Oh because he couldn't keep it in his pants with the ridiculous edicts. So he branched off his new group called Samuelite. And I'm trying, really trying hard to have empathy for the older adults in the room but it's hard cos wow, this brain? T...

Now considering how I'd been following Diddy's news from the first day Cassie asked for that money, I'm supposed to be done with this documentary by now. But it's been taking me quite some time to watch it cos I start it, become agitated and pause it godu.   Apparently, Aileen killed about 7 men between 1989 and 1990 cos she said they tried to rape her. I'll be honest, watching this (as macabre as it sounds) is interesting in a dark way. But even more than that, the motivation and owning up to her crimes was quite refreshing in a way I don't see a lot in serial killers documentaries. Cos many a times, when I watch male serial killers, it's either some stupid ass revenge rejection a girl did to them in their formative years, having an abusive upbringing, religious inclinations and cult, etc.  Now, I would say this lady is a real misandrist and if her reasons for committing these crimes are true, and I do understand why she has to resort to that. In addition, shee was a sex-worker and thus, wouldn't have gotten justice from the police had she reported. I do think she was a victim but she took the vengeance to another level. Her first victim had been jailed earlier for sexual assault and had to be incarcerated for 10 years. ...

So, I'm usually on the hopeless romantic side of k-drama series. So color me shocked on how engrossed I was with Mercy for none.  I mean I know the South Korean film Industry is good, I've been watching them for 12 years now. But this one fed the vengeance in me, even more so than The Glory cos this was pure blood thirst revenge. This series is what I mean when I say I want to watch a revenge drama. I need the gore, the slaughter and the torture to be torturing.  You need to see the blood, the oozing back-to-back pool of blood was feeding my inner vampire. Literally no mercy as is in the series name. The way I was having schadenfreude as everyone was meeting their fate, and the method to the demise kwu, pure butchering. It fed my inner misanthrope. The revenge touch everybody, love eet.  Be like say I go pause on love and light k-dramas for now. I need this violence 🫨🫨

  Kdrama should never make such a series like this again, this is the hardest series I've seen. And it's not even the one with the most tragedy (a lot of saeguk will it give it run for its money). But it's the rawness of it. The realism that's embedded in each of the episodes. We watched them grow from childhood with dreams, to adulthood with optimism. And we saw life beat them over and over and over. We saw the harshness of life sap some light out of their eyes. But through it all, we still saw unwavering tenderness between our two MCs.  We saw them trudge trudge through parenthood, more financial crisis. We saw them evolve, regrets in middle age and we saw them pick up their dreams again. We saw them find pleasures and contentment, making do with the situation they'd been served by life.  This was a masterpiece of being alive and I didn't even know when a tear escaped my eyes in the last episode cos why was this so heartbreaking, tear-jerking, and whimsical at...

  For someone like me that had fallen prey for brainwashing 419, I can totally get how people become brainwashed to religious cults. Especially if you're doing it for "supposed protection" of your family. The craziest thing about this documentary is that the religious audio snippets by the cult leader is probably the least impressive thing you'd ever listen to. Like the very least, bottom barrel. Okay maybe I'm just biased to never take anything that is covered under the umbrella of religion as trustworthy but this is just crazy. Like literally, once I hear men of God, my brain just screams "Grain of salt. Take this with a full spoon of salt." So you're telling me that you're a Christian, and you read your bible and someone is telling you they're the only way to God and you believe it? My heart goes out to the victims though.

Oh this is an amazing amazing documentary.  I started off by rooting by Team France. By episode 5, I was on Team Serbia (rooting for the underdog and shit). But after team USA defeated Serbia, and by episode 6 for the finale, I couldn't help but cheer for Team USA. I watched the finals live but rewatching the highlights, that was a phenomenal game  Team USA is so arrogant, it grated on my nerves. But I mean why wouldn't they have that confidence?. They've won this gold for 4 times consecutively before the 2024 game. Others would chant their country's name before a game, and team USA was chanting "GOLD." Like not for once did it cross their minds they could actually get silver. It is Gold or nothing. I felt so bad for France. In their own country, and team USA defeated them in both the men and females for finals. I'm shaa looking forward to 2028 Olympics. I know it'd even be more obnoxious since it'd be in the United States. 

This is great. This was so good. I watched all the episodes in 1 sitting. It's that good. It's this level of romcom Hollywood was doing before and then they fell off. This was what was absent that pushed us to kdramaland exclusively. I went in expecting nothing. I mean I'd seen my friends post it on their status but I didn't even Google the plot or spoilers. I just went in expecting the bare minimum from Hollywood. But colour me surprised  The dialogue is brilliantly done, there are awkward bits but it fits with the characters. It just flows naturally. The chemistry was chemistry-ing. The actors were deep into the role. Like they actually acted as though they wanted to be in the series - not a cash grab venture. This was phenomenal. Amazing. I'm not even hyping it, this is perfecto. It has all the recipes for a real funny movie. Quirky friend. Sister that gives bad advice. Overbearing ex. Unserious brother-in-law. I watched "Into the fire: The lost daughter" and all I can say is "mothers' instincts are crazy." That's so surreal. It made me start thinking of spirits' communication and all. I also watched this other documentary on Netflix where this woman allowed an inmate to escape from jail. The story was so ludicrous to me. She was a correctional officer and he was in jail for multiple felonies including domestic violence, and attempted violence. He'd be serving for 75 years. See his mouth like I'm not like that.  And even before his previous sentence, he has always been in and out of jail so it's not even a case of Menedenz brothers And the woman, Vicky White fell for him in prison. They were having phone sex between 2020-2022 when they escaped. Like transcripts from the burner phone she used to call showed over 1000 calls between those years.   My issue with this"the resident" series is the dialogue. The convos are really really juvenile. Maybe I'm nitpicky cos I was learning screenwriting before but the dialogues are subpar. There are always words, all the time. There are just certain things that we (the audience) should be able to glean from the actors' gestures, or leave it implied for us to get the context.  But they're literally filling every single scene with words. There is a saying we have in copywriting too - "Show not tell" and copywriting is mainly words oo. Not to talk about video production. "SHOW, NOT TELL." But they're telling us every single thing. Like see this scene, especially the one about fiancee. Not once have they shown us the disagreement. Not once. It's also doesn't help that the dialogues are weak, doesn't have the punch I suppose they're gunning for. Which doesn't now make me anticipate or day "one more episode" when it...

Lmao, I was also a power ranger girlie back then. How did I even get into it? So, I was on junior waec break and I'd gone to the mini market close to my house to look for a kdrama. They didn't have the particular ones I wanted. So I chose the India movie collections they had. Then for some reason, I believe Power Rangers Time Force was in one of those pirated collection. I can't remember. I do remember that I revised to give it a chance after I'd exhausted seeing other movies. Before I knew it, I was back to get others - SPD, Mystique Force, Jungle Fury, RPM, Operation Overdrive. Most of the ones I got were not complete. Jungle Fury and SPD have my favourite theme songs. Mystique force has the best power-ups in my opinion. However, SPD remains the best overall out of all of them. And it's not even a close competition. 

I watched Parasites at the peak of my learning screenwriting in 2020. So, it was almost like a diamond in the rocks for someone learning the nuances of powerful storytelling. I can't even begin to explain how that movie changed my perception of life, class disparity, wealth creation, etc. Most especially, with idealistic and lofty goals, and now reality really is. It's a masterpiece in storytelling. Emphasis on "storytelling." It's no wonder it won 4 Oscar awards.  I even started watching it cos it won Oscars for the best Picture , Director, Screenplay, and International Feature Films. So I figured to see this Korean Comedy thriller movie that got all these Oscars. And by Jove, it was more than deserved.  I'll always recommend anyone to watch it. It's just a jarring movie. Hell, if you follow the scenes attentively, you'd feel like you were poured cold water in that last scene cut. And when you sit back to analyze the metaphors, sceneries and even con...

  This man told his wife he didn't want kids. Yet, he was doting on his girlfriend's kid from a different man. He strangled his 8 month pregnant wife and dumped her in the sea. Before the murder, he didn't agree to the party his heavily pregnant wife is supposed to host to go to a holiday party with this new girlfriend. This is an annual party their family used to organise yearly. He told this mistress he was single initially. Eventually, he told her his wife is dead. His very 8 month pregnant alive wife. And the day he said he lost his wife, that was the same day he bought the boat he eventually disposed his wife and unborn son with. Note, he'd been married to his wife for 5 years at this point and again, everyone thought he was a wonderful man - the wife included. The girlfriend was eventually the one that even exposed his other life to the public. Cos prior to her calling the police, he was perceived as a responsible man. So no, these conversations of men absconding...

  NFL Great quarterback, successful Career, beautiful wife of over a decade, 2 healthy kids. And yet he lost his life cos he was fooling around with his mistress. This mistress was 16 years his junior. What the police concluded after investigation was that he wanted to break up with the girl (cos he even had additional girlfriends by the side), so the girl shot him 4 times and shot herself too.  I tried to feel sorry for him but I just couldn't find it in me. Disclaimer - I'm talking based on my perception of him on TV. This is very subject to change in light of new information. With that said, Freddie is the sweetest guy to have come out from Love is Blind. And he has the most beautiful smile, it literally lights up his eyes. So it was quite sad to see that light ebbed from his eyes in subsequent episodes cos of one girl. He is a full package - he has his own beautiful beautiful house, dresses well, is successful, takes care of his special needs brother, is close with his family, and he is not even arrogant. So I'm wary that they didn't show us everything. Now, he is not without fault - he did confess to cheating almost a decade ago. That's not the worst thing I imagined to be his toxicity especially considering his looks at that... Undoubtedly, UK season is peak reality TV. I absolutely enjoyed this season. There was only one shitty character, and it's a he. But Best season by far and the gap is not even close. And...

Netflix is recommending this documentary to me again. I always feel sorry for this dude whenever I remember him. He was a successful football player with so much potential. He is gay, so much so he hated that himself. Like he'd messed around with his best friend in high school. Continued denying that part of him cos in his mind macho men aren't supposed to be gay. Eventually started doing drugs. Later on, killed some people cos he wasn't controlling his anger. The person he was even indicted for was a colleague in the game. I believe the guy discovered he was bisexual, so Aaron was scared he was going to be outed. And when he finally got incarcerated, he eventually embraced his gayness and got himself a twink boyfriend in jail. But I don't think he ever got over his internalised homophobia. He later ended his life in jail. Quite a sad story. To think he was so good, he helped aid his team to participate in the Super bowl. Very very sad

One thing, you're 5 years into your marriage, always thankful that you have a family, own a house, have 2 beautiful kids, have a loving husband, pregnant with another child, and the next minute, you're dead with your kids. Your murderer you ask? The same husband you're grateful for everyday that you married.  He is the best thing that happened to her. The family said "I couldn't have asked for a better man." He went to her colonoscopy cos of her lupus soon after meeting her. Their Facebook videos are them looking happy, him playing with the kids, doing house work with her together.
