Notions (Nigerians and Prosperity )
You see this right here? This is what many Nigerians use to console themselves when they see rich, prosperous and successful people that are not religious. They pacify themselves with the absurdity that those people must certainly have a spiritual problem or obstacle of a kind.
Somehow, they believe that without those people being spiritual, they must have an unsatisfactory and problematic lifestyle. Nigerians be Cl🤡wning since circa 1883 AD.
Pray tell me what kind of terrible problem Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates has that isn't as normal as breathing? What is that obstacle so deep that would induce insomnia for the rest of their lives if not for ways to create more wealth?
We know the source of their money, the breakdown is outchea. But deeply religious Nigerians will bemoan the fact that people are actually thriving without the supposed notion they have that only religious people would. So they resort to the assumption that since they had gotten the wealth, they would be unsatisfied.
As far as I am concerned, Jeff is a highly successful, happy and fulfilled man. He's reached a milestone, made history by hitting the $200 billion mark, still with his hot girlfriend who he cheated with. He is still the richest guy in the world. The heavens have not fallen.
He is not crying at night cos he can't sleep again forever. Nah, you are just hoping that he is sad. He's not.
You wish he is distressed, you and me both know he isn't. Go wail some more…
Apart from the fact that human beings are inherently insatiable, life experiences are a mix of tragedy and goodness for everyone. No one is has an Utopian life on Earth. Not even the staunch Christians. Abi na the smelling fart these rich people excrete could possibly be how they have that isn't visible to the human eye?
Is there any circumstance that comes up (save death) with this kind of wealth that they can't solve or at least, make the situation more bearable. If Jeff Bezos is in dire need of a heart, or Warren Buffet in need of a kidney, their money will pivot them to not only the best health facilities but ease their way to getting the resources they need as compared to a pious Christian with same need that'd be running helter-skelter to generate funds for the operation. I shaa blame old Nollywood for reinforcing that horrid idea on people's minds.
Pathetic!
I remember when my first year and this geh came to my room to preach. She said "you only make good money as a Christian." That was the period I had the strength to engage with these people. And so I asked her, "If that is so, why then is none of the biggest pastors in the world the richest men in the world? Why are mostly irreligious people the richest people."
And yes, you can guess it, she replicated this same reply as in this picture. "They must not be happy with their wealth. They have problems and are unhappy and bitter with their lives" and loads of other gibberish she muttered.
Pathetic, yet again!
Spirituality is a personal journey. The major thing spirituality and religion gives people is a hope for something greater than them directing their lives. The spiritual has no interference with how prosperous a person can be, neither does it prevent a staunch atheist or Satanist from living the best life. Spirituality and Happiness are not mutually exclusive, that's the reality check.
The same challenges an irreligious person faces, the Christian goes through that.
Moments of self-doubts and fear, every body faces that.
Experiences that can be detrimental, it's not reserved to the non-christians only.
Christians have tragedy just as any other religious inclination.
It's a shame that people haven't come to this realisation at this time and age. E.K. Gwụrụ
