Film Review - Diamonds in the Sky
I have decided to make an effort into discovering impressive Nollywood Movies and giving a rundown/review of the movie. This time, it is "Diamond in the Sky."
Diamonds in the sky is the kind of movie I love to watch, movie that addresses societal issues, in this case - Cancer. It's a movie that explores the stigma associated with the illness and dynamics of how people in different social classes react to Cancer.
When you watch movies like this, you are not expecting mushiness or any of that, you are sharing the journey of the characters. You are experiencing experiencing the pain and the fears they have of the circumstances that they found themselves in. Like one of the cast said, "You read about cancer, hear about it but you never imagine it happening to you."
The norm in Nigeria is that we always try out self-medication first. Nigerians are so guilty of this - cuts across social classes. However, when it escalates, the rich visit sophisticated healthcare whereas, the poor resort to religious intervention until it becomes unbearable.
See eh, no matter how much we scream "Health is Wealth," you need to be wealthy to maintain that good health. And you need money so that when something goes awry with health, you treat it with wealth. It is a very terrible thing to fall sick, life-threatening illnesses to be exact if you're poor.
On another hand, the whole money not giving happiness blabbing. It's better that you're feeling sad and you know you can book a flight to Mauritius for a week and have a premium get-away, than suffering in a mosquito infested slum.
Ego dị ezigbo mkpa, periodttttttt
Back to My movie. One word for it - Brilliant. The cast execution of their roles 💯
The poor family were speaking the native language. The rich, a fusion of both. The melancholic musical scores, the expression of the actors.
Girl said - "Does this mean, I can't conceive? Like.. I won't have children?"
Doctor replied with the most expressible face - "But you will be alive won't you? And Isn't that more important?"
But the director stood out in this particular movie. He really took it home. Hi coordination and direction of the movie is s hundred percent impressive. I have never noticed the work of a director as much as I did in this movie. Kudos to him.
Like I said, I intentionally look out for movies that fare well and I'd highly recommend this particular one. Great feature film!
