Notions (Sham called America)

As a kid, when you think America you imagine a free world, better systems, an almost Utopia society. America becomes a dream, an aspiration for most. A world where you are free.

Then as you get older you realise that it is a sham. That America does not exist, even if it does it would be for the White Race.

That America is not true, most especially for people of your race, for people of your colour and to be specific, for the "Black Men."

It is in the news, daily. Sadly, the news is not about the country particularly making efforts to fight/pull down that system but that the cases abound. But that social media exists now, and the news are more wide-spread than before and there's more public outrage than before.

You'd think that would curb the crime rate, besotted upon the black man. Hardly!

A country where you can be in your house, taking a chunk of ice-cream and you'd be found dead the next moment.

A country where you'd be at your house and you are accused for murder and sent on a death roll

A place where yours, anyone's testimony or even evidence is not enough to prove your innocence.

Over the years, the results are still the same. From wrongful conviction with nonexistent trial and imprisonment/death to police Injustice.

A few days ago, it was a woman threatening to call the cops that the BLACK MAN is harassing her. Emphasis on black because she knows how disadvantaged he is against the system.

A few days ago, it was a woman threatening to call the cops that the BLACK MAN is harassing her. Emphasis on black because she knows that by default, he is guilty in America.

Then yesterday ago, it was a man literally stomped to death in broad daylight by the police.

And these are just the cases that we see online. For anyone of those, there are thousands which go on behind the scenes.
Out of the very few that gets reversed, an overwhelming number remain the victims in this mess called America.

Several others that we know nothing about, yet America parades herself, as the custodian of a free and Just society trotting around like a disheveled peacock who have lost all its feathers.

The black man is worth nothing, absolutely nothing in that country. Then you begin to despise that country for what it is. You realise that even though Nigeria is a shit hole, it is better to inhale and get used to the shit, than propel yourself to a hell-hole, a strange country.

At least, those of us who are born in Africa have it safer. We can always run back to our village,  attend festivities, eat fufu and lick the scraps of food off our fingers.

What then do you say to African-Americans that are stuck in the country, where they should call home but same place that hardly  treat them as a home would?
