On Homophobia
First thing I did when I decided I'd stop going to church in 2018 was ask myself, "So if no church, it means i don't care about hellfire anymore abi?"
The second thing I asked myself was "so what's your defence on being homophobic away from the church?" Culture? Like I care about ordaining same culture that believed in killing twins So I just read up on it and just freed my mind from thinking it's a sin or something.
And now, I actually can't believe I ever was homophobic. I mean, how does it concern me whether 2 men or 2 women decide they'd want to be with each other? Like how? Even if your crush eventually turns out gay, statistics show you're likely compatible with dozens other people.
I recently discovered that Tim Cook, Apple's CEO is gay. Same with Sam Altman, Open AI (chatGPT parent company) is gay. It's just their business. No one gives a damn if you're straight. So more awareness and openness has to be done.
I guess that's why some people feel like recent media always have representation. And same can be likened to blackness being represented. Anyways, these are first world issues (ain't denying the criminality in Nigeria) but we are too backwards everywhere first. We need to get our shit in order. When that happens, I believe Nigerians will have more openness and be less homophobic
