Be awake
While you're yet to discover your passion/purpose in future, can you just learn simple handy skills to have (just in case)...
I know we've said since time immemorial not to pressure anyone or to rest from lockdown, but going with the state of this country, it's of utmost importance that you awake from your slumber.
The time for sleeping is gone - over. You should be wide awake by now. This country is a mess... We are on our own.
So as you're yet to discover the passion/purpose you should have, try and learn something significant.
Learn Google and MS suites - at least even if you no learn anything to do now.
Many Undergraduates cannot even navigate as little as MS Word. They don't know what index is, Text alignment, Pagination, etc...
Not to talk of the other suites. In my case, I mastered Google docs when my friend (in another location) asked me to create play drama.
Prior to then, I didn't know you can edit and review comments in the application. And that was our medium of communication at the time.
So when I had my sessions with a coach (a few weeks ago) on reviewing a couple of my copy, the Google doc. was what she was using and because I'd been using it prior - I was able to cue in immediately.
Imagine what would have been my fate if I wasn't aware of the app (well I could learn it then, but it won't come as easy as I would have preferred).
Even with Google Drive. I had thought it's just for backing up of documents/files. I'd been using it since 2018 to save my files.
However, you can use it as a portfolio of some sorts. You should learn how sharing the links works, knowing the settings of the privacy and viewership so that you don't forgo editing them…
When I'd sent a proposal to a producer with the link, I didn't know you had to give access. And in between him requesting for my access and me checking my email to notice it, he probably chose another writer (as I he didn't get back to me again).
Now that I am aware of that, I am using now to send proposals to prospects.
Of course, y'all knew about my learning PowerPoint.
All of the above are seemingly simple knowledge that most don't know - learn them. They are of utmost importance, especially in this time and age.
There is a tad more that can keep you occupied on mastery until you find that which you want to do
Can you create a blog from blogger and wordpress from the scratch? (I learnt that when I didn't get admission in 2017).
What of the widgets and gadgets in each of the blog platforms? The designs... Themes... Arrangement... Scheduling of posts, and all of that... Are you even aware of its existence?
These are the mere basics that doesn't need a web developer to know how to do.
Can you create pop up navigation in those websites?
Can you link the pop up from the host domain of the pop-ups to your website/blog?
You have any idea about bulk emails sending, auto-responders and shit? (Learnt these ones during this lockdown).
I'm even going far...
How far your email address? Is the name even your real name or some nickname? Is it functional?
Do you check it daily (if you're signed up to a newsletter)? Or you thought it was just for Jamb registration...
I was astonished to discover about email marketing. Apparently, people are cashing out from email!!
The point is, "there is no excuse for mediocrity in this period that we are living."
There is no excuse that you don't know how to do something, anything especially when Google and YouTube are available.
You spend time lounging on Joro and Instablog and you complain incessantly on the country.
This country is full of shit - no rebuttals.
However, you should be prepared for opportunities that can come your way, so that you reach out and grab it.
Set yourself apart from the crowd of mediocrity.
Learn... Learn... Learn...
That's all I have for now…
