On Losing Weight (1)

Guess who went down from 83kg to 67kg between November 2024 and May 2025. Yup, that's me. There wasn't any advice I hadn't gotten from both online and my siblings on taking workouts and active lifestyle seriously, especially for health reasons. But I was giving excuses with "I'm too busy with work and too tired after the day to do anything."

But guess what got me motivated to workout mostly everyday now? My Oraimo smart watch. My brother got me one at the beginning of the year and the dopamine of seeing my active calories burned count increase as well as signing in to the app mark my streak was far more motivating than abstract health benefits.

Many thanks to Grow With Jo, Move with Nicole, Get fit with Rick, Denise Austin, and K-pop fitness YouTube videos. Also to my humble self (for making it a personal mission to get up by 6 am and go for 1 hour brisk walks). And to my siblings for always warning me of sedentary lifestyle effects.

But the biggest thanks goes to my beautiful namesake for being my first fitness accountability partner. She said - "You need to add weights to your routine, not just cardio. You need strength training as well and you know what, I'm going to buy the dumbbells for you." And she got me a pair of 3kg dumbbells. If not for her frequently sending me workout videos as well as me sharing video updates with her, I might have slacked as well.

The goal is to have it as part of my routine. The same way I dedicate time to coding and attending work meetings. I've taken it as a day job now and the salary is a healthy body. And I still do my normal side activities (like watching documentaries, listening to podcasts). The difference is that instead of bed rotting and engaging in them, I do the workouts while watching the documentaries and podcasts
