Notions (Home)
Home?
What is your definition of home?
I'd like to say first that the idea I agree with most is "that home is where the heart is"
Only where the heart is
Picture this!
A 5 bedroom bungalow that is beige tiled, with almaco windows and iron doors. A bouncy caramel couch in the parlour, a 40" flat screen television, 3 pairs of recreation, a wide space outside.
The tiles is mobbed everyday without fail, although some rooms are not even used
The children of the landlord hardly sits on the couch, except for prayers, yet it is cleaned everytime
The television is never used for entertainment by the children of the Landlord,
The compound is swept daily unfailingly,
The children hardly exchanges words with their father, apart from greetings
In a nutshell, the house feels strange to the children of the landlord
Another scenario, a 3 bed room flat, 24" television, no tiles, just an average flat.
In this case, the children returns home, always even the married ones
The whole family gathers in the parlour to watch television
The house doesn't follow up a strict roles of tidiness,
However, the children batter with their parents, freerer and more comfortable.
Riddle me this!
A family where there's awkwardness between parents and children,
A house that feels like a lodge,
A family where you cannot express yourself fully, whether be it speech or sound from phone or whatnots,
A house where you rarely receive visitors,
Not only rarely, you just don't want to receive visitors
Because not only does the house feel alien and uncomfortable, you don't want to impose the awkwardness on your friends.
One where chickens, are most likely more important than the children.
How?
A scenario whereby the chickens are well catered to morning and night
One child witnessed a scene at night where the chickens are just being casually watched
One whereby the children of the house are grilled and scolded for the well-being of the chicken
One whereby a call from the father to the children is not to ask for their wellbeing but whether the chickens are fed and safe
One whereby cold is checked for the chicken but not for the children
Mayhaps, the chicken brings in income
Or it's something that is for consumption by the family
But the sheer fact that chickens more or less rank more than one depicts that the house is more of a home for the chicken than the children.
Home!
What is your definition of home?
I have many, but it's definitely not where one calls a family house
For me, home is wherever I am comfortable and at peace
That could be in church, in an organisation
And includes a hotel.
