On Losing Weight (2)
I used to look back at my 2019 pictures and do wishful thinking to get back to that size. But doing research on what makes up the body adipose tissue (read fat) is really straightforward.
Unless you have Thyroid issues, Endometriosis, PCOS or other medical condition that affects your metabolism, weight loss is something that's within our control. In simple terms, it's about what you eat. 90% of your weightloss will come from diet over forcing yourself to do exercise.
For instance, a 30 minutes Cardio workout burns only about 200 calories. The calories in a loaf of bread is about 5x that. So if you go for a gym session and get pizza afterwards, then it's counterintuitive because you're eating more than you burn.
Weightloss, as I've come to learn is what you eat. It's about the portion control, the cutting of junks, the enabling your body to get to ketosis, so you make your body get energy from the fat reserves by burning the excess fat. And that can only be gotten when you cut down on what you eat. So it's not just cutting down junks, cos if you eat healthy foods in surplus, you will still gain fat. That is because your body is still storing the excess of what it got from you.
Where exercise really comes into play is building muscle, which in turns helps you develop faster metabolism and thus ensure you burn fat faster. Exercise is for improving your cardiovascular system and generally toning your body. There is really no secret to weightloss, it's the most straightforward realization. And the best thing is you can start anytime, but it's really a marathon not a sprint.
