On Work Attitude

Last year, I was bemoaning my fate on if I'm even a good enough software developer. There was this guy I was interning with and my goodness Lord, I wanted to quit every single day. My mental health was in shambles. And truthfully, he was a better developer than I was but his attitude was shitty.

So when the internship was about to end and they said they would be retaining only one person, I already concluded I'd be let go cos he was obviously better. So I started looking for other gigs on time. But guess what, I was the one retained. I literally even told them that I had another role so I wouldn't be dedicating 100% and they told me that's fine, we just want you on our team.

It's really then that I understood the importance of attitude at work. Cos that guy was annoying to everyone. He was nitpicking both the designers oo, fellow frontend people and even backend guys. Smh. Anyways, I'm glad I stayed back cos now I'm learning flutter for mobile development and my boss is invested in everyone's growth so it's very plausible I'd be learning Java for backend development as well. So yay to 2024 being better

Nigeria and their sense of entitlement, especially Undergraduates SMH! Nobody owes anybody anything in the exam Hall, Nobody! I'm not mandated to tell anyone shit, neither am I entitled to get answers from someone in said Hall. It's really important for us that we get that into our entitled empty stuck up skulls. If A' refuses to tell you shit, then suck it up. Why didn't you prepare aggressively? The one I detest the most are those who don't know shit at all and expect you to dictate for them. Podcast - Dealing with Despair

Between last week and this week, it was like I was on a dry spell. I had the biggest feeling of despair, so much so that I had to forgo the topic I intended to address this week to just vent.  Being stuck at home has its pros as much as it has the cons. More so because, there is no stability in the country and so many of us fall into despair. My experience revealed a couple of nuggets on life and that's what I addressed in this podcast .  The feeling of helplessness and uncertainty I felt is incomparable. I was unmotivated to do anything - read, write even watch movies. Social media didn't even cut it for me, I wasn't feeling any vibe online. The essays I had intended to complete by the end of the month, I abandoned them all (4 of them). I lost my appetite for food a couple of times. Simply put, I was on a standstill.
